🎣 Getting Started with Fishing in Cat Town
Welcome to fishing—one of Cat Town's most relaxing and rewarding activities! Here, it's all about patience, enjoying the experience, and having fun. Every catch is fair and randomly verified on-chain, ensuring that everyone has an equal chance at reeling in treasures and big fish. Sometimes you'll get lucky, sometimes not—but every fishing trip holds excitement and surprises. Good luck out there!
What You Need to Begin
- KIBBLE and ETH in your wallet – Learn more about KIBBLE. It costs $0.25 in KIBBLE to identify each fish from your barrel, so we recommend starting with a few dollars' worth.
- A fishing rod – Speak with Isabella or Skipper (whichever NPC is on shift) by visiting cat.town/fishing to get your rod.
Once you've got your rod, you're ready to cast your line! On weekends, you're automatically entered into the fishing competition for free. Just click or tap on the boat to set sail!
How to Fish
1. Cast Your Line
Choose a pool of fish and cast your bobber.
2. Wait Patiently
Once your bobber is in the water, wait for a fish to bite.
3. Time Your Catch
When a fish bites, you'll need to reel it in carefully. Aim to stop the reel on the green or yellow segment of the timing bar—if you hit red, the fish will escape!
4. Build Your Streak
Landing a catch perfectly (on green) earns you a PURRFECT! This builds your hot streak, which steadies your paw and even slows down time, improving your chances of landing a double-dip—two fish at once! Learn more about Hot Streaks →
5. Identify Your Catch
After catching fish or treasures, you'll need to identify each item for $0.25 in KIBBLE. Identification happens on-chain using verifiable random functions (VRF), so fairness and transparency are guaranteed.
Each correct fish identification earns you reputation with Isabella, bringing you closer to better fishing gear. Sometimes you'll reel in treasures or rare artifacts instead of fish—these special catches don't need identification, but they're always worth keeping an eye out for!
The Thrill of the Catch
Sometimes you'll net a big one and propel yourself into the top 10, or land a lucrative treasure! Other days you'll pull in cute and tiny fish, and sometimes even someone's discarded morning coffee—but that's just part of life.
Rolling a large fish can propel you into the top 10 of the leaderboard and net you a tidy sum of KIBBLE!
Weekend Competition
Every Saturday and Sunday (UTC), all your catches are automatically entered into Isabella's Weekly Fishing Competition! The angler with the biggest fish wins the top prize, and there are rewards for everyone in the top 10. No extra entry fee—just fish like you normally would!
